Things to Consider Before Buying Copper Core Stainless Steel Cookware
Copper core pans and pots have a copper layer at the center of the pan. The outer layers are usually stainless steel. However, you might find additional layers, such as aluminum.
Copper core cookware sets are great for home chefs who want high-quality, heat conductivity cooking tools. Cooking with copper is safe for your health, as it will not touch your food.
If you only use one or two pans to prepare your food, and don’t feel the need for more, a complete set may be too large for you. Cooking with stainless steel, instead of nonstick pans, is a difficult process.
Clad’s pots & pans are copper core 5-ply bonded. They have five layers: two stainless steel on the exterior, two aluminum and a copper core inside.
Before we dive into our All Clad Copper Core Cookware Set review, let’s take a look at some important things to remember when purchasing a copper core cookware sets.
Are you finding that you have to use different sized pans to cook your regular meals? Is it possible to use a smaller frying pan for making a perfect-sized crepe and a larger one for cooking several chicken pieces? Before you buy cookware, think about the pans that you will use most often.
Be sure to get the right size pots and pans for your needs.
You might consider a glass cover which will allow you to see the food as it cooks without having to take off the lid. You might find a metal lid sufficient for your needs.
Are the handles easy to hold? You might want handles made from a material that has a lower heat conductivity, such as rubber or plastic.
Before you buy a copper core cookware set, it is important to know what the pots and pans are made from.
Copper cookware is made from copper. This core is an excellent heat-conducting material that cooks evenly.
Copper can be toxic if it is ingested. However, copper core cookware has been sealed with other materials on both ends to ensure that you still get the heat-conductive benefits of copper core cookware.
Copper prevents hot spots by heating evenly throughout the pan.
Chrome-resistant Stainless steel is an excellent choice for materials around the copper core. It’s strong and resistant to corrosion. Although it isn’t the most heat-conductive, this material can be mixed with other materials like copper or aluminum.
Because there are no metals or chemicals in stainless steel, the interior is safe. Be aware if you have nickel sensitivities or are trying to reduce iron intake.
Aluminum iscommonly used in cookware. It has high heat transfer and heats up quickly. It reduces hot spots, similar to copper.
Aluminum can react with acidic foods which can absorb it. Too much aluminum can be harmful to the human body. This material is also easy to scratch.
You can use your oven cookware if they are safe to handle higher temperatures.
Also, Dishwasher-Friendly Pots and Pans are great for time savings.
Be on the lookout for Teflon non-stick coatings as they include the chemical compound polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE. ) Nonstick cooking surfaces can emit toxic chemicals at normal cooking temperatures.
All Clad Copper Core Cookware Reviews
Let’s get to the meat of this All Clad Copper Core Review, beginning with the manufacturer’s claims.
What is All Clad Cookware?
All Clad began making cookware in Pennsylvania in 1971. John Ulam, their founder, combined his passion for cooking and his knowledge of metal metallurgy to create handcrafted metal cookware. All Clad products are still manufactured in America by skilled craftsmen.
John Ulam invented bond cookware. This process is still used in All Clad cookware today.
Clad cookware is of the highest quality, but the price is not.
All Clad cookware is made in the United States.
Even All Clad cookware can be imperfect, so it is worth learning about any issues. One of the biggest problems I have ever encountered is that All Clad outsources the production of stainless steel lids and other peripherals. This results in lower quality. Many of the lids it makes are made outside the United States.
What is the All Clad Copper Core Collection?
All Clad Copper Core 5-Ply Bonded cookware is available in a 7-piece, 10-piece or 14-piece set.
The 10-piece set includes two frying pans and two saucepans as well as a stockpot.
All pieces are copper core 5 plly bonded. They have an outer layer made of magnetic stainless steel and an 18/10 stainless steel interior surface for cooking. The inner layers of aluminum sandwich a thick copper core. These pieces also feature riveted stainless-steel handles that are easy to hold.
The base of all the pieces has a copper skive that runs in a band. Although it looks great, customers have reported that it can sometimes discolor.
These pans are safe to use in the oven and dishwasher-friendly. These pans can be thrown in the dishwasher, unlike many other “dishwasher safe” cookware.
All Clad Copper Core pans are highly praised by customers for their heat distribution reliability and beautiful polished surfaces. Customers also love the high quality materials and flared edges that allow for easy pouring.
They aren’t as happy about the fact that the bottoms of the pans seem to stain very easily and that the pans are heavy to transport around. It is also quite expensive.
You can purchase an individual saute pot with lid if you don’t have a complete set. This is a versatile option that’s also more affordable than the whole set. You can read my review below.
If you need more pieces, however, the
- Great heat distribution
- Beautifully polished metal design featuring a copper ring
- High-quality materials
- Set of dishwasher-safe cookware
- Compatible with induction stoves
- Broiler and oven safe
- Flared edges to ensure drip-free pouring
- This includes the most important pieces of cookware
- Staining is a common problem with pans.
- Pots and pans that are heavy
- Comparable to other competitors, quite expensive

All Clad Copper Core Pans and Pots: Features and Benefits
We’ve now presented the 5-Ply Bonded All Clad Copper Core Cookware Set. Let’s dive deeper into its features, and benefits in our next All Clad Copper Core review.
The All Clad Copper Core Cookware 10-piece Set includes two frying Pans. The smaller fry pan measures 8 inches (20 cm) and the larger one 10 inches (25 cm).
The package also contains a 2 quart (1,9 liters), sauce pank and 3 quart (2,8 liters), sauce pot with stainless steel lids. A 3 quart sautepan with lid and an 8-quart (7.6 Liters) covered stockpot are also included.
All lids made from stainless steel are more durable and oven-safe. However, you cannot see through the lid if it isn’t opened and let the heat escape.
All Clad Cookware lids are generally the problem with their cookware. They are stronger than glass lids, but they don’t have the same quality as the pans.
The 7-piece set has one less pan and one fewer sauce pans, if you’re looking for something smaller.
The 7-piece set
The 14-piece set is another option if you need something larger. This set includes a saute pan, a pan for cooking with, and a pan for serving as a chef’s pot. This cookware is expensive, especially considering that it’s all stainless. Cast iron and nonstick cookware are my preferred cooking methods, so I don’t think this is the right amount of steel.
The 14-piece set
How do you clean all clad copper cores?
Cookware does not have a nonstick coating, but has an outer layer made of stainless steel. You will need to learn how to cook with stainless steel. Food might stick to your pans more easily. This might prove difficult for a novice chef.
All Clad pots and pans will need to be maintained. To keep them shiny, you’ll need to polish their exteriors regularly.
If the pans have become so discolored that they are impossible to fix, you might consider a little bit of Bar Keepers friend.
This cookware also has copper liness that can be used for decoration. This line looks beautiful at first but users have reported that it can discolor and turn green if not properly cared for.
The discoloration is only visible on the outside of the cookware. It is completely harmless. This is a normal process that won’t affect functionality. To keep the copper band bright, you can invest in copper polish.
All Clad Copper Core pans and pots have a 5ply bonded construction with a stainless steel outer layer.
These pans are made from 18 percent chromium steel and 10 percent nickel. The 18/10 stainless steel has a shiny luster and is durable. It also resists rust.
However, stainless steel does not have a great heat transfer ability. The inner layers of the pans’ pans are made with copper and aluminum. Both metals have excellent heat transfer properties, which allows the pans heat up quickly and evenly distribute heat.
This combination gives you sturdy pans that don’t lose heat. Buyers love it.
Stove and Oven Compatibility
These pans can be used in an oven or broiler at 600°F (315° Celsius). The All Clad Copper Core Cookware can be used on an Induction Cooktop.
Customers feel that the All Clad set’s pots and pans are heavy. Some customers even claim that the pots and pans are difficult to lift once they’re full of food.
That’s probably part of the price of five solid layers of metal.
Some buyers complain that the handles can get too hot, while others claim they keep heat from spreading to your fingers. Users agree that the handles have a long, comfortable grip.
Stainless steel is very durable. The pans can be used with all types of utensils without fear of scratching. You don’t have to worry about the pans peeling because there is no nonstick coating.
The All Clad Copper Core Collection is also advertised as a dishwasher safe cookware set.
These pots and pans do not have nonstick coatings. My All Clad Review will show you how to make nonstick pots and pans. Even All Clad stainless will stick to food.
The polished stainless steel surface is also resistant to stickiness. This is far superior to what I have seen in similar steel cooking sets.
Perhaps there is a secret sauce in starburst’s finish?
Is All Clad Copper Core safe?
This cookware is Teflon and PTFE-freecookware. However, it does contain copper and aluminum which can react with acidic foods and possibly have adverse effects on the body when ingested.
The inner layers of aluminum and copper are protected by stainless steel to prevent them from reacting to food. The All Clad Copper Core Collection is very safe.
Construction with 5-Ply Bonded
The 5-ply, bonded construction of stainless steel, copper and aluminum with a layer of copper provides superior stick resistance, even when heated, and warp-free strength and endurance.
All Clad has been the market leader in multi-layered cookware that delivers exceptional performance. They literally invented this concept!
How much do you get for your investment? Is it worth the money? Although the All Clad Copper Core Set is more expensive than other sets, it is still a great value and is made by skilled craftsmen. It’s a worthwhile investment.
The limited lifetime warranty comes with the All Clad 5-Ply Bonded Line.
The cost of buying the entire 10-piece set in one purchase will be quite high. You have two options if you don’t like All Clad’s copper core collection and want to save money. See below.
But what I have seen is that many people buy only one piece of All Clad cookware at a given time. They buy the cookware they will use most often and spread the cost.
You can also mix and match by going piece-by-piece: Cast iron skillet, cast iron saute pan or nonstick frying pan, enameled cast iron Dutch bake, etc.
Let’s take a look at the best individual pieces of cookware to help you decide if this is something you would like to do.
Saute pans are the real workhorses in a modern kitchen. They can do everything, from boiling and frying to sauteing.
The All Clad Saute Pan features the same 5 layer bonded construction and stainless steel as the main copper-core cookware set.
Expect the same performance in both good and poor.
Although the price is high, you can still get complete cookware sets for less than this saute pan. This pan can be passed on to your children, if it is well taken care of.
I chose the 5-Quart Pan, which is large enough to make plenty of one-pan meals.
Saute pans are among the most versatile of all pans. They can be used to cook just about anything, provided they have a cover.
My saute pan has been used as a regular fry pan, a stir-fry pan and to make pasta when I don’t have any sauce pans.
- High Quality, Look and Performance
- Only one pan with lid
- Helpful helper handle – you’ll need it when you have a full saucepan
- The most important pan for your kitchen
- The price is comparable to a complete set of cookware, although the quality is lower.
Stock pots are the second most popular type of cookware. This 8-quart pot can be used to cook soups and stews.
This would work great for pasta, but there is no colander insert. Colanders are easy to find.
This is a great area to experiment with if you’re making a mix of cookware. If I had to pick between this pot or a Dutch oven made of cast iron, the Dutch oven would be my choice. A Dutch oven is much more affordable and versatile.
However, you don’t have the exact same control as your partner, and there are other differences. In a perfect world, however, you would have both.
- High Quality, Look and Performance
- Second pan is a good choice
- The purchase price is comparable to a complete premium cookware set
- When full, very heavy

This review will let you know how great the All Clad copper core line really is. But are there any other options?
Anolon Nouvelle Stainless Steel Cookware Pots & Pans Review
Anolon Nouvelle copper core sets are a less expensive version of the All Clad set, but they have the same number. It is also 5 ply constructed and features an outer layer made of stainless steel, while the copper core inside is made from copper.
The package includes a 1.75-quart saucepan, 3.5-quart pan, 8.25 quart stockpot and 8-inch fry pan. All other items have lids except the fry pans.
Customers love that this set heats evenly and looks very beautiful when it comes out of the box. However, they complain about the quality of the material. The copper band is easily scratched and discolors very quickly.
- Less expensive than the All Clad Copper Core Set
- Lifetime guarantee
- Heat is evenly distributed
- Compatible with Induction Cooktop
- It is not made of high-quality materials
- Exterior scratches are easy
- Only the base is 5-ply bonded copper core (sides are single-layered).
The Anolon Nouvelle Set, which has the same 5 ply copper core construction as the All Clad, is a great alternative. Take a look!
Paderno 12-Piece Stainless Steel Copper Copper Cookware Set Reviews
The Paderno 12-piece set includes glass lids to protect your copper core cookware. The bonded cookware set comes with three saucepans, a steamer and wide pot. It does not include a regular frying pan. It also features a similar design as the All Clad, and a 5-ply construction.
These pots are said to distribute heat well according to the buyers. They also like the glass lids, but the pots aren’t dishwasher-friendly-hand washing required! Some users report that food sticks to the pans and is difficult to clean.
- Copper Core cookware is more affordable than All Clad
- Includes glass lids
- Great at distributing hea.
- It is difficult to clean pots if food sticks to them.
- Only the base is 5-ply bonded copper core (sides are single-layered).
This set by Paderno is a great choice if you are looking for glass lids to enhance your copper cookware. Take a look!
All Clad Brushed D5 Stainless Cookware set (10pcs).
This set might suit you if you like the idea and feel confident about All Clad’s stainless five-ply but not the All Clad copper core line.
All Clad’s 5 layer bonded cookware has been reduced in price by replacing the copper core inside with stainless steel.
This set is not as beautiful and offers a different performance.
The whole set can be baked at 315°C (600°F) without the lids. This makes it ideal for high heat cooking.
While I like the brushed exterior look, I prefer the fine gold lines offered by All Clad’s copper core line.
- All Clad Stainless Steel 5-ply is less expensive than All Clad’s copper Core line
- Exteriors that are not polished should be brushed
- Copper stripes are less attractive.
- Stainless steel surface with superior stick resistance
- Excellent heat control, but not as good as the All Clad Copper Core Collection.
What is copper core 5-ply bond cookware?
Copper core 5-ply copper bonded cookware has five layers. At least one of these layers is copper.
This should not be confused with impact-bonded cookware. A cookware that is impact bonded usually has a bottom with discs that have been hit bonded to it.
Copper core 5-ply bonded cookware has layers that extend all the way around the pan.
Is copper core worth the effort?
Aluminum helps to spread heat, but does All Clad’s copper core offer any additional benefits?
Copper has nearly 60% greater heat conduction than aluminum. The copper center is effective in avoiding cold and hotspots and offers better performance than aluminum.
Copper core cookware wraps copper in layers made of stronger metals to protect it from being exposed to food.
Personally, I think All Clad’s copper core looks great in a subtle way. But that’s not the main reason to purchase this cookware!
Pure copper cookware is a better choice. Why bother with all the layers?
To keep food safe, even “pure” copper cookware will be lined with tin. Copper cookware can become brittle and must be “re-tinned” over time.
This disadvantage aside, copper isn’t as strong as other layers of steel and doesn’t heat up as fast as aluminum.
Copper core cookware is highly reactive to temperature changes because it contains copper and aluminum. You get the best of both copper and stainless steel, with the ability to heat evenly.
Is All Clad Copper Core Cookware liable to warp?
It is not the norm. Clad cookware, including its copper core line, is of high quality. These pots and saucepans are not designed to warp under normal usage.
Although a small percentage of copper cookware owners report it, it is impossible to know how they used their pans.
The lids, on the other hand are not as high quality and could warp. The lids are not as exposed to direct heat so they should be safe.
Is there any other All Clad cookware?
The All Clad Stainless cookware range includes many high-quality products at a high price. Some products are not five-ply or copper cookware.
All Clad triply is high-quality and affordable. It all depends on what you use it for. However, many home cooks enjoy similar cooking experiences using All Clad triply to five-ply but at a lower price. An article has been written comparing it to Calphalon triply.
All Clad also offers nonstick cookware.
How can I clean my All Clad Stainless Pan?
All Clad isn’t even close to nonstick but it offers superior stick resistance to other stainless steel pots.
Even All Clad stainless steel can sometimes get scorch marks that aren’t very attractive. They usually come off easily for me, but this can be a problem for home cooks. You might be a Bar Keeper friend.
You can also check out my guide for cleaning burnt steel pans.
Are there any advantages to using multiple layers of metal in 5-ply-bonded constructions?
Yes. Each layer of stainless steel, aluminum, and copper has its own benefits.
All Clad includes a thick copper core to provide fast, responsive heating. Heating is even more efficient with the aluminum layers.
It is common to bond stainless steel with bonded construction. Because the outer layer of stainless steel is magnetic, the cooking surface is safe. All-Clad’s stainless steel surface is highly polished and offers excellent stick resistance.
This 5-ply bonded design offers even heating, warp free strength, and ultra-responsive cookware that is stick resistant.
Is All Clad Copper Core worth it?
All Clad Copper Core Cookware offers the best of both with a thick copper core, and a stainless steel outer layer that provides superior stick resistance. This ten-piece set includes six pieces of cookware that will fit all your needs.
It’s a top-quality cookware that is affordable for both home and professional chefs. Because it is super responsive, it is ideal for cooking tasks that require temperature control.
This product can last a lifetime. So check it out!
As it is expensive, this set is not always readily available. Double-checking the price with another vendor is also a good idea. It’s worth checking out the price on Sukalde, especially if it is out of stock on Amazon.
