Deep-fried food holds a special place within my heart as well as in my stomach. It is something I admit to enjoying, but only in moderation.
Deep frying has always been a problem for me. I hate the fact that you have to pour a lot of oil into a pot. It’s almost like oil waste. It is also a pain to dispose of cooking oil.
A digital air fryer that burns very little oil sounds right up my alley. The Gourmia 6-quart Digital Air Fryer (5.8-liter) is certainly worth the price.
The Gourmia is a great option if you are looking for something simple and inexpensive. For its additional features, I prefer the CosoriSmart Wifi Air Fryer.

Before you buy a digital air fryer, here are some things to consider
What are my requirements for an air fryer, besides using less oil? These are the most important things to consider when looking for an air fryer.
Delicious Food
Crispiness is what you should be focusing on when choosing an air fryer. It wouldn’t be the same crispiness I would expect from deep-frying. It should be close.
It will be similar to low-fat milk. It’s not quite there but it’s good enough.
However, this is not true for other functions such as baking salmon or cooking steaks. The air fryer should produce results that are at least equal to those from an oven or stovetop. The health benefits you get from air-frying are not the same as those you would receive by avoiding deep-frying. So don’t lose your taste buds!
Also, be aware of the machine’s smell. An air fryer can emit a burnt plastic smell at first. This smell can affect the flavor of your food. Some customers swear that these odors disappear after a few uses of the machine.
Capacity
A smaller unit is fine if you are just looking to make some french fries. An air fryer should still be large enough to cook larger meals like whole chickens.
For a small family, you will need an air fryer that holds 6 quarts (5.7 liters) of food. A 7-quart (6.6 liter) capacity is better for larger families.
Intuitive Controls
The best thing about an air fryer for me is the option to either set it up myself or have it do it automatically. Presets allow the machine’s temperature and cooking time to be set for you. They call this one-touch-cooking. Presets are often linked to the type and amount of food that you’re cooking. You will need to set a preset if you are cooking salmon.
Air fryers come in a variety of preset options.
My personal opinion is that the more presets you have, the better. This means there will be enough to cook the food you are cooking. Before you buy an air fryer, make sure there are at least eight presets and as many as twelve one-touch presets.
Timer
Although it may seem obvious, some air fryers offer more than a regular timer. They also have timers that can be controlled via your smart home or smartphone. Some timers remind that you should give your food a shake halfway through cooking.
Easy-to-Clean Basket
This is crucial; the basket should be easy to remove from the fryer.
Non-stick materials are recommended. It’s likely to get messy and you want it to be easy to clean. It should also be safe for use in the dishwasher.
While stainless steel baskets are more durable, they are also easier to clean up. You might not want to use nonstick baskets if you are concerned about Teflon.
Crisper Tray
These trays can be used to separate meat or vegetables for frying. These trays should be dishwasher-safe and easy to clean, just like the basket.
Other Functions
Air fryers should be able to do more than deep fry without oil.
Your air fryer can be thought of as a mini convection cooker. Make sure your fryer can quickly roast, grill, broil and bake all types of meats and vegetables.
Air fryers can do more than this. Some air fryers can also be used as pressure cookers. Their functions include pressure cooking, air frying, baking bread, and dehydrating fruits.
Safety
Every appliance, including your microwave and electric kettle, is susceptible to accidents that could cause injury. The same goes for your air fryer.
You should look out for safety features such as automatic shut-off, heat protection, and cool touch handles.
Very little to no oil
Air fryers are popular because they require very little or no cooking oil.
But not all oils are unhealthy. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a great oil, with many health benefits. If the air fryer can help you avoid hydrogenated vegetable oil in your food, that’s a great thing.
Gourmia Stainless Steel Digital Air Fryer Review
The Gourmia Digital Air Fryer is one of many air fryers and appliances made by Gourmia. It’s about the middle size and most affordable.
This simple air fryer is perfect for families with small children or couples who are looking for a basic fryer that doesn’t require too much technology.
Let’s now take a look at the Gourmia Stainless Steel Digital Air Fryer to see how it compares.

What am I getting for my money?
Let’s now take a closer look into the benefits and features of the Gourmia air fryer. While I don’t always believe everything the manufacturer says, it’s nice to see a Gourmia video.
Delicious Food
Gourmia Air Fryer owners are raving about the delicious food. This holds true for everything, from chicken to tortillas.
Some users experienced difficulty getting crispness in some foods like sweet potatoes.
One user reported that there was a silicone or burnt smell coming from the machine. He also claimed that the food tasted like plastic.
However, this is not the case for most users.
Cooking Capacity
Gourmia Stainless Steel Digital Air Fryer has a cooking capacity of 6 quarts (5.7 liters). This is a great size for families. It’s large enough to feed at least four people.
Gourmia also offers different sizes for different models:
- A 5 Quart is for couples or small families
- An 7 Quart for larger families
Intuitive Controls
Eight preset controls are available on the Gourmia Air Fryer. I’ve seen more than I can count, but I’ve also seen less.
It’s possible to accidentally put food in the air fryer without it being on the preset list. This just means that you will have to determine the temperature and time yourself.
The touch screen controls are much better than buttons. The buttons on many air fryers have a tendency to break down quicker than you might expect. This could be due to the high heat from these tiny cookers.
Timer
The Gourmial Air Fryer uses a simple timer. Its maximum runtime is 60 minutes.
I don’t see any bells and whistles on other air fryers; there is no wifi functionality or food-shake reminder.
Crisper Trays and Easy-To-Clean Basket
Gourmia Air Fryer baskets are easy to clean. There’s no indication of the type of nonstick. It’s dishwasher-safe. It may contain PTFE, which is the active ingredient in Teflon. The nonstick basket should not be heated above 60°C.
The air fryer’s crisper trays are nonstick and dishwasher-safe.
The set includes a multi-purpose rack and four skewers. This is something new and nice, but they don’t stick. Some users reported problems with the rack and skewers.
Other Functions
The air fryer can do everything a convection oven cannot, including fast roasting, grilling and baking.
The only thing I don’t see are additional functions. This device isn’t a pressure cooker or bread baker, or fruit dehydrator. These functions are available elsewhere. These extra features are not available at this price.
Safety
Gourmia doesn’t advertise safety features or mention them.
Although there are many precautions, I don’t see any such things as overheat protection and automatic shut-off.
Perhaps that is why some users complain about burning smells.
Is Gourmia a Good Brand?
Gourmia, a Brooklyn-based company that sells domestic kitchen equipment, focuses on healthy cooking and easy use. The company’s headquarters is located in the USA and most of its products are made in China.
Gourmia has many products that can be used in the kitchen. Oprah endorses one of Gourmia products, the frozen dessert maker. It was on her top ten list.
Gourmia’s customer support has received mixed reviews.
What are some alternatives to the Gourmia air fryer?

Safety is also important to me, and Cosori appears to have it covered.
